Erdington Projects

Services are delivered in partnership with Birmingham YMCA. Y @ Fosseway and Sixways youth club are used as bases from which a number of inclusive projects in the Erdington area are being delivering with an aim of inspiring young people enabling those that engage to gain both personal and social development, to increase in confidence levels and to improve in self esteem allowing them to learn new skills and make informed choices about their lives.

Programmes include:

Five youth club sessions per week; Positive activities for Young People delivered in school holidays; trips and residential; guidance and support; school drop-ins; sexual health, leadership and babysitting courses; youth steering groups; Court Farm School Kids city project working within the school with children with challenging behaviour.

Highlights include:

International trips to Portugal and the French Alps for a ski trip.
National Play Day at Short Heath Park.
Total number attendances for Erdington projects have reached well over 8000 throughout the year.

Case Study:

John used to hang out on the streets and was referred onto Erdington projects by Streetwise youth workers who first encountered him in an anti-social behaviour hot-spot area. When he was first referred, John presented with quite challenging behaviour and was often in trouble at school. John has since became a regular youth club and PAYP attendee and over the past year our youth workers have developed excellent relationships with him. John has attended many activities and also an international trip to Portugal, his behaviour has settled down and he is no longer in trouble at school. Most recently, he has enquired about volunteering with K-Kats youth club, and has subsequently become a regular and valued volunteer.
